Linux Admin, Carolina Population Center
Hosting and maintaining websites for our numerous research projects is a large part of my job at the Carolina Population Center as a systems administrator. As part of a site rollout, I frequently request SSL certificates from Software Acquisitions to secure our sites. Greg Neville and his team have been instrumental, even vital really, to our workflow of implementing InCommon SSL certificates that are recognized by web browsers to secure our websites.
I have used Software Acquisition’s SSL cert service since the inception and offering of that service began here on campus. Without exception, the customer service received has been exemplary and professional. Our needs have changed over time, and cover certs to secure individual sites, all the way to wildcard top level domain certificates, and lately to multi-domain certs, coupled with an ever-growing list of Subject Alternate Names (SANs) that gets constantly updated. Each of these requests requires Greg’s team to do quite a bit of verification with campus DNS, security, and InCommon registration for the issuance of a cert. All of this has been handled without issue and sometimes under a short turnaround time request too! When something needs further clarification or modification, we’ve received timely instructions and information to get the job done.
Another complicated system we implemented with help from Software Acquisitions is the ArcGis geographical portal suite of software. This required license key generation, SSL certificates, specialized software installs, and even arranging the occasional support call with ESRI Software — the vender offering the product, to troubleshoot various issues we were experiencing. This was uncharted software both for us and the Software Acquisitions office. The level of support provided by Greg and team, sometimes back-and-forth multiple times per day, was outstanding!
Software Acquisitions has come through time and again, with fast, reliable SSL certificates, plus specialized, attentive support for many other difficult projects that have come up over the years. We are always thankful, and feel good when we see that green lock of trust in our browser, knowing once again we can count on Software Acquisitions to secure our sites.
